I am a novelist and short fiction writer. I have published three well-received novels:
- Double Helix Fall, my first novel, is an homage to the fiction of Philip K Dick
- Putting Out is a murder mystery set in New York five minutes into the future, a satire on the privileging of style over content in politics
- English Weather is one man’s life seen from points of view other than his own, from his death to his birth, covering a sweep of British twentieth century history
- My collection of stories Bars of America -
- Taller Today - my non-fiction of novel of my early life in West London in the 50′s was published by Telegram in 2013
A Police Chopper is Chopping Up My Dream
into tiny pieces. You stand in your nightie, trembling -
Those poor people! I must go and help! - dress, then run
to the Inferno where the innocent are turning to ash
with their soft furnishings, toys. Homework, favourite trainers…
The sky has the pallor of a perfect English summer dawn
stained with the fragments of a dying building,
as the conscience of the city will be as soon as it wakes up
to what it has done.
On the streets, snapshots - MISSING! – of children
our own went to school with, grown up. Smiling back at us.
